The Black Hole of the Internet
By Dean Beaty 8/22/09
One day I wrote a poem, for that is what I do.
I put it on a web site and away my poem flew.
I hoped someone would read it, that’s why the thing was sent.
But I haven’t any knowledge of where the poem went.
For a moment it was there, then “poof” it went away.
Into cyber space, I guess that’s what you’d say.
But that’s an ire feeling for I don’t know where it went.
All that I can tell you is I know the thing was sent.
Maybe someone read it and then they passed it on.
Again, all that I know is that the thing was gone.
Maybe there’s a black hole where things just disappear.
Then on someone’s monitor the thing will reappear.
To me it’s quite a mystery; this internet black hole.
There isn’t any bottom or a way to fill the whole.
There are pictures, poems, and music with articles galore.
No matter what gets sucked in, there’s always room for more.
Even people end up down in a six foot hole.
And in a few more eons they’ll turn into coal.
But not so with the internet; it’s like a bottomless cup.
No matter how you try, you just can’t fill it up.
